Egyptian Tourism Sets a New Record in 2025 with 19 Million Tourists

21% Growth Exceeds Global Average with Unprecedented Increases in Air Traffic and Cultural Tourism

Egyptian tourism recorded an exceptional and unprecedented performance in 2025, welcoming approximately 19 million tourists and achieving a new record with a 21% growth rate compared to 2024—an accomplishment that reflects the growing strength of Egypt as a tourism destination on the international stage.

Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, affirmed that what Egyptian tourism achieved in 2025 represents a major accomplishment and a confirmation of Egypt’s competitive edge, supported by the country’s security and stability, a clear vision, and an integrated strategy focused on highlighting the diversity of tourism patterns and products that Egypt offers—unmatched anywhere in the world—alongside continuous improvements in the quality of tourism services.
He added that this growth exceeds the global average growth rate, estimated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization at only 5%, reflecting the confidence of tourists from around the world in Egypt as a diverse, safe destination capable of offering integrated and varied tourism experiences.

The Minister also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the political leadership for its support, and to the Cabinet and the government for their coordinated and integrated efforts across various state bodies, which contributed to creating a climate conducive to tourism growth. He further congratulated the private tourism sector and all employees of the Ministry on this achieved success.

During 2025, Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, and Marsa Alam airports topped the list of airports receiving the highest number of tourists, reflecting the geographical diversity of Egypt’s tourism destinations and their ability to attract different segments of tourists from multiple markets. This also underscores the success of the Egyptian state’s efforts to develop tourism infrastructure and airports and enhance the quality of services provided.

Archaeological sites and museums across the Republic also witnessed a significant increase in foreign tourist visits, receiving 18.6 million foreign visitors—excluding the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and the Grand Egyptian Museum—representing a 33.5% growth compared to 2024.

In addition, 2025 saw a notable increase in charter tourist flights by 32%, while New Alamein City achieved an exceptional leap, recording a 450% increase in charter flight traffic, positioning it as one of the most prominent new tourism destinations on the international tourism map.

The Minister noted that these unprecedented results achieved by New Alamein City and the North Coast reflect the success of the political leadership’s vision and the Ministry’s strategy to diversify tourism destinations, open new horizons for beach, leisure, and cultural tourism, and create new tourism products based on integrating multiple offerings into a single, comprehensive tourism experience.

Throughout 2025, tourist flights were operated from 193 cities worldwide to various Egyptian tourist destinations—clear evidence of the expansion of the international aviation network and the growing demand to visit Egypt.

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities emphasized that the coming phase will build on these positive results, working toward achieving sustainable tourism growth that directly benefits the national economy and further strengthens Egypt’s position as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.
